I may start updating here again. It's been a while, and I've really had nothing to put up, but who knows... I got this random e-mail about site updates and such, so I figured I'd check back in and see what sort of things were up. Seems like quite a few improvements, which is cool, so who knows.
So, let's see... what's new since May 17, 2007... dang, that's a really long time ago...
Academic life
First semester of senior year actually went quite well. The main hitch class-wise was my 'Directed Study', which is Japanese III. Technically, it's a student pace class, but even though I was failing a good portion of the time because the clas was too fast for me, the teacher never slowed down. Oh well, a passing Final put me at a passing grade, so it's not like it really matters. Integrated is over, which, on the one hand, is a godsend since the course had too much freaking reading, but on the other, it's left an odd hole in my time schedule. Go figure. My other classes were fairly easy... Optics, Probability Theory, Band, Computer Science... easy A's.
That ended up allowing me, at the Mid-Term, to move off of that drated Pink Card, which, for those of you that don't know, removes our initially required study times and extends our curfew by half of an hour. It also lets us stay in the lounges a bit later than usual, which is always a good things. I hit the grade requirements for the next card (I'm on Yellow, next is Green), so I'm finishing up the other stuff, and I'm hoping to be able to hit Blue, which is amazing previlage wise. Yay!
And, now it's second semester, which means new courses. Almost all of them are easy ones as well. Creative Writing is one of my favorite pass-times, now as a class. The Second World War seems to be shaping up as an informative but considerably less time consuming class than I expected, so that's good. My Research class barely meets, which is good, but it means I actually have to be responsible and work
. AP Stats may be easy, if I can ever hear the teacher (he's soooo quiet), but as long as I have the classes audio recordings, I think I'll do alright in the long run. It's fairly solid as a conceptual course so far. Band and Computer Science are like first semester, fairly easy overall, and Japanese III is being a bit more merciful this time around... or maybe I'm just getting it for once
...
The all imfamous college hunt is coming to a close. I decided not to apply to Yale, like I was going to. Part of my second-guess instinct, which is usually right (it was last time... I ended up here when I listened to it, and there's probably no place I'd rather be). So, instead, I just applied to Rose-Hulman and Purdue, and have already gotten acceptance to Rose, so I'm pretty much set for the other. Now to sit and weigh my options, figure out which one is better for me. Horray for Pro and Con lists... *sigh*
Social Life
What to put here... This has always been a more difficult section than the other ones for me to fill out, but I've managed in the past, so let's give it a shot. Things have been going pretty well over all between me and Samantha since last update. We've almost been together for a year now (only a bit over a month and a half), and it's been amazing so far. The summer was an unusual time, since we went from seeing eachother many times throughout the day, everyday, to not seeing each other for almost the entire break (she got to come to my Grandparent's for the 4th of July though). Since getting back, we've been spending a lot more time together, so that's a good thing, it's a lot of fun to spend time with her. Since it hit winter, we can't go on walks or anything that entails being outside, but it'll be warm in a few months (being cooped up inside = bad...).
With the new Juniors.... well, at the beginning of the year, I realized how much different it is to be a Senior, showing the Juniors the ropes and stuff... yeah. They got the hang of it after a while, which is fortunate, and they've been doing great since the beginning of the year. I've made quite a few friends amongst them, and tend to hang out in their rooms randomly, playing games and talking. I mean, I stayed up the entire night before the ACT telling stories instead of sleeping... which was probably not the smartest thing to do (even though I got a 32 out of 36
). Hopefully they'll have an easy time after we leave next year...
Artistic Life
So, I've been working on quite a few things in this area, though few have really seen the light of day. For creative writings, I made a short story entitled 'Dark Star Rising' (and no, I didn't know there was a novel by that name when I originally titled it...) for the Writer's of the Future contest (which I have yet to submit, I'm still bummed about missing the first deadline I had, so I want to take time to finish it up nicely and proof-read). It's nearly 17,000 words (which is the maximum) and I'm hoping that it'll win once I get it in and the quarter ends. Regardless, I'll see about getting it all up somewhere for people to read. I like getting critizism back on things so that I can improve
.
For art and drawing, I've had quite a bit of work on my plate. In fact, I just finished up the last of my fifty some sketches for my comic that I am enetering into a tournament, so once I go back over them, and ink them, I am going to compile it (possibly color) and then enter it in the match against my opponent. I'll provide a link when's it's done. I've got a few other side pieces I've been working on, mainly a series of character drawings which will eventually make its way online one I finish them (which may be a while). That's not it, but I've got too many things going on to go into indepth.
That's my life in a nutshell... ('Help, I'm trapped in a nutshell!'). I may update a bit, but if I don't don't shoot me or anything. I just don't have the desire to sit down and write about my life as much as I used to... People change, right?
Catch ya' on the flip side!
